Students and employees often receive thoughtful onboarding support when they join a new place. Someone gives them the big picture, introduces available resources, and shows them how to navigate their new environment.

But when we move into a new neighborhood, we're on our own. What the heck? Being an adult doesn't mean we suddenly know everything!

Cities are full of interesting people (especially Portland), yet our lives can become surprisingly siloed. We often stay within the same circles and rarely have opportunities to meet people outside our everyday worlds. Bummer!

That's why Our Place hosts community gatherings.

These aren't networking events. They're more like a block party on steroids. We create welcoming, one-stop spaces where Portlanders from all walks of life can simply show up, share experiences, and discover the amazing people and resources in their community.

Whether you're new to Portland or have lived here for years, we hope our gatherings become a safe touchpoint — a place to encounter different perspectives and feel a little more connected to the city and the people around you.
